Hi! My name is Lucinda and I have a passion for inspiring children to create amazing art. After working as a primary school classroom teacher for six years, I jumped at the chance to move into a specialist art teaching role. It was in this role, surrounded by 25 enthusiastic little artists, that I found my true calling as an educator.
My most recent teaching experience was working at an international school in Shanghai, China (YCIS). Living there for a total of six years, working as both a classroom teacher and visual art specialist, was a very rewarding and enriching experience. It was at my school in China that I was given the opportunity to develop a primary art department from the ground up. Teaching Visual Art to 19 classes across Kindergarten - Year 5 was no small feat, but I loved it. This department, with the help of some talented colleagues, has now grown into a thriving subject area that is an integral part of the school community. From beautiful school murals and everyday lessons, to weekly assemblies, concerts and parent galas - the art department is always busy and on display! It was such a blessing to be part of a department that brings joy and energy to students, teachers and parents.
I moved back to Australia last year with my husband for the birth of our daughter, Mariana. Although she is still only young, I'm looking forward to the day when she will be into the finger paints and clay! I hope this blog inspires you to create some arty memories with the children in your life.
